Fatal Carrier Landing
In this video we see a fatal carrier landing (or not as the case may be). This is why it takes so much practice to be a carrier pilot and even then it is extremely tough. Here the pilot misjudges his approach and comes up short with disastrous consequences. (6 second Real Player, 66 kB)

Ontario Airshow Bomber Crash
In this video we see an aging British Royal Airforce four engine Nimrod bomber crash into water while making a low pass at a Canadian Airshow. The crash killed all seven crew members instantly. Witnesses claimed the planes engines stopped while it was making the turn although the exhaust trails from the engines can still be seen all the way to the impact point. Rescue boats and helicopters were on the scene within minutes. Divers and life jackets were seen among the remnants of the craft in the water. Ironically the Nimrod apparently was demonstrating its ability to avoid heat-seeking missiles when it crashed. It seems that this particular evasion technique is not the most efficient way to escape an incoming missile. (14 second Quicktime MOV, 1.4 MB)
Ethiopian Airlines Crash
In this video we see why all the safety information you are given when you fly about where to find your lifejacket given a landing on water is really just a complete waster of time. Here in Moroni in the Comoros Islands an Ethiopian airlines Boeing 767 attempts to make a crash landing on water close to shore. The plane was carrying 175 passengers and crew and had been hijacked between Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and Nairobi, the Kenyan capital. It ran out of fuel while the pilot was still trying to negotiate with the hijackers. Click here for a more in-depth report of the Ethiopian Airlines Crash. (14 second Quicktime MOV, 760 kB)
